Obtaining A Business License

Welcome to the City of Hapeville, Georgia!

Thank you for considering the City of Hapeville as your new home for your future business. This page contains information that will help guide you in obtaining your licenses, permits, and certificates from the City of Hapeville. Please do not start operating your business until you have completed all the steps necessary for your licenses, etc.  Many business owners will require several steps in this process, while others may not.

Before you apply with the City of Hapeville, your business must be registered with the Secretary of State. You can find more information on our Additional Resources page to help you get started. Afterward, you can proceed with completing a City of Hapeville’s Occupation Tax Certificate Application for either a commercial business or a home-based business.  A copy of the business owner's government-issued ID is required to submit an application. 

Upon completion, submit your application packet to the Customer Financial Services department and it will be forwarded to our Community Services Department. After your application is submitted, it will move through the following stages:

	The application is reviewed by the City Planner. If it is approved, it will proceed to the next step in the process.
	The Permits Manager will provide you with contacts to schedule an appointment with our Code Enforcement Office and Fire Marshall for building inspections. Each will inform you of any additional steps that must be taken before a Certificate of Occupancy can be given.
	Once inspections have been completed, a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is issued, and the application is then returned to Finance Customer Service to generate an invoice.
	Once payment has been received by Customer Financial Services, the business license permit is issued by the Occupational Tax Clerk.
